Art raised $1500 for local volunteer organization
A friend contacted me recently, telling me her friend is looking for a local Jewish artist, and I was the first one she had in mind. I soon learned about Michelle Mamann-Gozlan, z”l, who passed away recently after battling illness, and her sister, Yael, was arranging a memorial gathering, to remember Michelle, and all the good deeds she has done in her life.
One of the Mitzvot (Jewish laws) that was dear to her heart was the Asher Yatzar blessing. She recited the blessing that thanks God for the perfection of the human body despite the fact that her body was not functioning perfectly. In her honour, Yael wanted to dedicate an artistic Asher Yatzar blessing, and auction it off to raise fund for Bikur Cholim, a local volunteer organization which helped her and her family while going through this crisis.
I was happy to donate one of my artworks for this event. It was a pleasure choosing the piece – Lions with Ten Commandments -and working with Yael, and the framer from Armand Gallery to figure out the best way to insert the Asher Yatzer blessing’s text. See the end result, I think it came out beautifully.
I was delighted to hear that the artwork was able to raise $1,500. It is an honour for me.
Here is Yael’s testimonials:
Thank you Moshe, your contribution to honouring my sister was paramount in raising a substantial donation for a charity that was near and dear to our hearts during Michelle’s illness. May Hashem bless you with the inspiration to continue your beautiful work for further acts of Chesed.
For health and happiness to all.
